Intro to Safety and Basic Tools [June 2, 2025]
This is the first of three non-credit introductory machine shop courses. Over the course of approximately 4 hours (9 am - 1 pm), participants will learn about machine shop safety, and complete the following hands-on tasks:
- Task 1: Drill press
- Task 2: Band saw
- Task 3: Hand tools
- Task 4: Chart reading
- Task 5: Countersinking
- Task 6: Counterboring
- Task 7: Tapping
- Task 8: Measuring tools
Intro to Turning [June 4, 2025]
This is the second of three non-credit introductory machine shop courses. Over the course of 6 hours (9 am - 12 pm & 1 pm - 4 pm), participants will learn about machine shop safety, and complete the following hands-on tasks on a lathe machine:
- Task 1: Facing
- Task 2: Turning
- Task 3: Drilling
- Task 4: Knurling
- Task 5: Grooving
Intro to Milling [June 6, 2025]
This is the third of three non-credit introductory machine shop courses. Over the course of 6 hours (9 am - 12 pm & 1 pm - 4 pm), participants will learn about machine shop safety, and complete the following hands-on tasks on a milling machine:
- Task 1: Milling tools
- Task 2: Workpiece setup
- Task 1: Facing
- Task 2: Drilling
- Task 3: Chamfering
- Task 4: End milling
- Task 5: Blind hole drilling
- Task 6: Frame/Side milling
Please note that class requires a minimum of 2 students to be registered before it can be offered, and has a maximum capacity of 4 students.

Important Safety Note: Open toed footwear and loose clothing is not permitted in the shop.
